State Level Seminar on 'The Companies Act, 2013'

The State Level Seminar on ‘The Companies Act, 2013’ was convened by the PES’s Modern Law College, Ganeshkhind, Pune in association with University of Pune

to look into new emerging trends by gathering chartered accountants , company secretaries and researchers from corporate background to collectively examine the different theoretical and practical implications of the new law.

Following four subthemes were given to researchers:


1)    Increased Reporting Framework

2)    CSR-Voluntary to Mandatory

3)    Wider Director & Management Responsibility

4)    Emphasis on Investor Protection.


Senior Chartered Accountant and Ex-Finance Officer University of Pune Mr. M.S. Jadhav inaugurated the Seminar, and expressed his strong views on corporate governance. He was keener on practical approach while guiding students about the new trends brought by the Companies Act, 2013. He also talked about importance of self-evaluation, self-analysis, loyalty, honesty and truthfulness as the key to success.


Mr. Nishad Umranikar, Company Secretary shared his views on the new company law. He focused his lecture towards problems of implementation of it and explained that the situation is tricky for students and professionals both as the whole Companies Act 2013 yet to be enforced.       Mr. Anay Kembhavi, Company Secretary has written a book on the new company law named as “Insights into the new Company Law” published by Lexis Nexis. He gave a complete analytical comparison of new and old company law. The Interactive session benefited students a lot as the new amended law is also part of syllabus for the last year LL.B. students. Students interacted with the resource persons.  The experts answered their questions and elucidated them on the subject.


The Second Session was selected paper presentation. It was divided into two parts. First part was chaired Asst. Prof. Ananya Bibave and Asst. Prof. Vikrant Yadav.  Second part was chaired by Principal Modern Law College Dr. Sunita Adhav.

Students, teachers and advocates from all over Maharashtra participated in the Seminar. Researchers from various colleges presented their research papers on the given themes of The Companies Act 2013.
