P.E.S Modern Law College organized One Day Workshop on Teaching Skill: Enhancers and Indicators as part of faculty development Programmed. Distinguished academicians were invited for the seminar. The guests interacted with the teachers and students. The distinguishes guests included Prof. H. P. Deshmukh, Director, D.E.S. Law College, Pune and Dr. Sanjay. S. Kharat , Principal Modern College of Arts, science and Commerce

 

The workshop was divided into two sessions:

Session I : Enhancing Teaching Skills.

Session- II : Academic Performance and Indicators (API)

Renowned Prof. H. P. Deshmukh (Director, Academics D.E.S Law College had graced the occasion and gave an insight on the teaching skills and how a teacher remains a student forever. He emphasized on the importance of psychological, mental and physical wellbeing for becoming a better teacher. He explained and quoted “If a teacher cheats own profession, he cheats the whole generation”. The importance of the communication skills and more importantly reaching out the weak students by going to the ground level is important. Professor gave the importance of the preparation on the part of a teacher and said “Preparation leads to perfection”.

 

Session- II : Academic Performance and Indicators (API)

 

 

 

 

 

The second session was graced by the presence of Prin. Dr. Sanjay Kharat (Principal, Modern College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Ganeshkhind, Pune). Dr. Sanjay Kharat gave an insight on the abolition of the grade system in the education sector. The introduction of the 6th pay put an extra load and sense of responsibility imposed on the teachers. This imposition is called as API (Appraisal Performance Indicators). This API is a self assessment and is governed by the committee consisting of the IQAC team and the principal of the concern college. The API being a self assessment by the teacher and has to be submitted along with the evidence of the activities. This API form has to be submitted along with the evidence every six months. According to this assessment system the head of institute shall decide the increment based on the performance. A minimum point system has to be scored every 6 months to get into the band of next level for promotion. Thus Dr. Kharat had beautifully explained the insight provisions of UGC and elaborated the benefits for the Teaching profession as a whole.
