Lok-Adalat Visit

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a speedy and Cheap method of solving the disputes. Lok-Adalat is one of the ADR methods to solve disputes. 30 students from LLB-II of Modern Law College under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Akshay Ugale visited the Lok-Adalat arranged in Shivajinagar District Court on 8th February 2020. Students observed the actual working of Lok-Adalat and how to disputes are actually settled through mediation, arbitration and conciliation.

One-Day Workshop on Soft Skill Development ‘Talk A Thon’

One day Workshop on soft skill development was organized in association with ‘SOLUTIONS’ on 10th February 2020 to impart soft skills in students which are beneficial in their academic and professional life. Principal Dr. Sunita Adhav welcomed the honorable guests Mr. Sandip Diwan, Superintendent of Police, CID Pune and Mr. Rajendra Bhide, Soft skill Trainer and Mr. Anand Patil, Secretary of Governor of Tamil Nadu. In the workshop total of 100 students actively participated and students also have given positive feedback.

Per Meditatus

‘Per Meditatus’ English Communication Certificate Course arranged and successfully conducted by the college. The course aimed at enhancing the lingual and communication skills of students. The course was conducted by Ms. Priya Avachat in the month of November, 2020. The course focused on the process of communication, effective presentation skills, reading, writing and listening skills. The interactive nature of course and its practical implementations in daily life has greatly added value in students’ knowledge and skills. Total 55 students admitted in the course and completed the course successfully.

International Conference on “Emerging Trends of Human Rights Violations: Contemporary Socio-Legal Issues”

The Modern Law College conducted a two-day international conference on “Emerging Trends of Human Rights Violations: Contemporary Socio-Legal Issues” on February 22 and 23, 2020, in collaboration with Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Goa.

Prof. Mohamed Ibralebbe Mohamed Azver, Manager and Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, British College of Applied Studies, Sri Lanka, discussed the emerging trends of Human rights. Chief Guest Dr Saba V.M. Da Silva, Principal, G.R. Kare College of Law addressed the audience on the topic “Towards 4th Generation of Human Rights in India”. Ms. Kiran Moghe and Mr. Pandurang Kotule discussed in details the need of upliftment of domestic workers and evolution of natural human rights respectively.

Journal ‘DNYANAMAY’ was published which include total 46 papers on topics relating to human rights violations. Professor Nitish Nawsagarey, Principal, D.E.S Navalmal Firodiya Law College and Mr. Anand Pawar, Executive Director, SAMYAK, Pune addressed the participants on the different aspects of human rights and law.

Vidhirang

Vidhirang is a state-level intercollegiate youth fest organized by PES Modern Law College, Pune from 25th to 29th February 2020. It is the first youth-fest organized by NSS volunteers and students of the College. The fest was organized to encourage academic, cultural and sports activities among the students. On February 25, the Chief guest Dr. Nivedita Ekbote and the Principal Dr. Sunita Adhav, Co-ordinator Prof. Adv. Dr. Chintamani Ghate, lit the lamp to start the annual festival. Different competitions were organized for college students. A renowned Indian production designer and art director of Indian movies, Mr. Chandrakant Desai, attended the award ceremony.

Daff Karandak

P.E. Society’s Modern Law College organized the 7th Daff Karandak on 29th of February, 2020. The Student Development Board and the College’s NSS Unit together conducts a the one-day Daff Karandak Street play competition. More than 120 students from different colleges competed in Karandak. Teams from Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts competed this year. A prize-distribution event was held with notable art director Mr. Chandrakant Desai, college Principal Dr. Sunita Adhav. The advice given by judges was really helpful to the students and inspired them to take part in more and more street play competitions.

2nd Late Smt. Shashikala Ramakanth Ekbote State Level Elocution and Debate Competition 

The Second Late Smt. Shashikala Ramakanth Ekbote State Level Elocution and Debate Competition, Vidhirang was organized in Modern Law College on 25 of February 2020. The topics for elocution competitions were Cashless India, Corrupt Media, Unemployment in India and Problems in front of Indian democracy. Miss Harshali Ghule and Mr. Anupam Sambhus was judge for the Competition. First prize in the debate competition won by Marathwada Mitramandal’s College of Commerce and Yashwantrao Chavan Law College in the elocution competition. Mr. Nitin Desai, famous and world class art director, distributed the prize to winner teams.

प्रोग्रेसिव्ह एज्युकेशन सोसायटीचे मॉडर्न विधी महाविद्यालयात दिनांक २७ फेब्रुवारी २०२० रोजी सोसायटीचे कार्याध्यक्ष मा.डॉ. प्रो. गजानन एकबोटे, महाविद्यालयाचे समन्वयक  अँड. डॉ. चिंतामणी घाटे, प्राचार्या डॉ. सुनिता आढाव यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली “मराठी राजभाषा दिन” या कार्यक्रमानिमित्त मराठी स्वाक्षरी अभियान राबविण्यात आले होते. तसेच मराठी भाषेच्या संवर्धनासाठी ग्रंथालयात मराठी साहित्याचे प्रदर्शन भरवण्यात आले होते. विधी महाविद्यालयातील  सर्व शिक्षक, शिक्षकेतर कर्मचारी व विद्यार्थ्यांनी सहभाग नोंदविला.

Covid-19 Awareness

P.E. Society’s Modern Law College has always shown great enthusiasm for the welfare and well-being of its students and the community. During the worldwide outbreak of Covid- 19 the college has conducted different projects like ‘Projects Arogya Setu’ under which the NSS volunteers of the college spread the information about the ‘Projects Arogya Setu’ app in general people. Students also prepared and promoted Covid-19 Awareness posters by using social media. NSS volunteers Narsinha Lokhande and Viraj Joshi helped Migrant Labourers and feeding street dogs respectively. The project for preparation of Mask through participation of NSS volunteers and college students. The projects were conducted by observing covid-19 safety guideline.
