Modern Law College has established a legal research center named Modern Legal Research Centre to teach students research qualities and social awareness by conducting research activities. Modern Law College, although established in 2003 and is one of the newest law colleges in Pune city. Nevertheless, we are the only new law college to have established a Research Centre and have undertaken a Savitribai Phule Pune Unversity-sponsored minor research project. It also provides a platform for the teachers and students to engage in research activities and understand the practical aspect of law and the problems and perspectives of socio-legal issues.

The MLRC also undertakes Research projects sponsored by the Savitribai Phule Pune Unversity. The College has undertaken socio-legal research on ‘Motor Vehicles Accidents in Pune District: Administration, Legislation and Judiciary-a Critical Study.’ The objectives of the socio-legal research were to understand the impact of the Motor Vehicles Act with relevance to motor accidents in general and victim compensation in particular. Based on the empirical and photographic data collected, the Research center could deduce specific preliminary observations. The investigators shared these observations during the Savitribai Phule Pune Unversity research seminar ‘Innovation’ 2009-10 held in December 2009 and was appreciated by the judges and participants. The research is now in the compilation stage. BioMedical Waste Disposal in Hospitals is another area wherein research was conducted, and students have submitted their reports on the same.

A Critical and Analytical Study of Domestic violence against women: With Special Reference to Domestic Violence Act 2005 – The aim is to study various international covenants dealing with the protection of women, to study the aim and object of the Domestic Violence Act 2005, and to make appropriate suggestions and comments on the implementation of the Act.

New Research Activity Modern Legal Research Centre has undertaken are Research project with the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, JANAWANI. MLRC is working on the research project on Legal aspects of Urban Solid Waste Management, Legal aspects of conservation of Heritage Resources, Legal aspects of Road Signages. The faculty and students are the core research team for the research project. The College is also proposed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with YASHADA Academy to undertake various Research Projects on Legal socio issues. “The 19 (1) (a)” Indexed Peer Reviewed Half Yearly Law Journal with ISSN Number 2348-4950. The Journal is a half-yearly Research Journal that is indexed in a directory published by ISSN. The first copy was published in January 2016 and was released by Hon’ble Justice Abhay Thipsay, High Court of Judicature Bombay, Mumbai.
